LEGO: The Hobbit is an adventure videogame developed by Traveller's Tales Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive. This game brings together the two stories from the Peter Jackson movies The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. The third movie is not included in this adventure, but you can download it as a DLC.
This game brings together the two stories from the Peter Jackson's movies The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
The mechanics take the path of the previous LEGO videogames, though with the opportune additions to adapt the movements and physics to the Hobbit world. This way, you will find a huge Middle Earth at your disposal, with several locations looking as similar as possible to how they appear in the movies. Characters will be able to perform lots of actions within the sets. You will be free to visit Hobbiton, Bag End, Mirkwood, Rivendell, the Grey Mountains and the Goblin-town since they are some of the playable sets of this adventure.
In addition, almost every character will be a controllable one in LEGO: The Hobbit. Of course, Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf the Grey will be playable, but they are not the only ones. All the dwarves, from Thorin to Fili, Kili, Gloin, Balin and the rest can be used and controlled. In addition, there are not only dwarves, but some elves such as Legolas and Tauriel also appear, and do not forget about Radagast the Brown or even Gollum. Take into account that each hero will have his or her own special skills, and elves will be very useful with ranged weapons (bows and arrows, of course) and the wizard will use magic (of course).
As an adventure game, you will have to fight, explore, solve puzzles and more. This way, while playing you will have to search for Gems, steal your enemies' equipment, build structures to reach some difficult places or even craft powerful magical items. In regards to building structures, you will use standard pieces of LEGO. This part of the gameplay is classic in this franchise since many of its games have this feature.
Depending on the situation you are facing, you will have to use different characters with their special abilities to solve it. For instance, in Goblin-town, when you face the Goblin King, you will have to use characters with ranged attacks such as Kili or Gandalf to hurt the boss. Other heroes will have to fight the goblins with their melée abilities and protect the ones who are attacking the Goblin King.
Regarding puzzle gameplay, they will be very present throughout the adventure. Once again, you will have to use the different heroes to solve several puzzles you will find on your way. The key for the success is using their different abilities. It can be difficult at first, but once you get used to it, you will have no problems.
